Description
Stone Town is a city of prominent historical and important of East Africa. Its architectures, mostly dating back to the XIX century, reflect the diverse influences underling the swahili culture, giving a unique mixture of arab, persian, indian and european elements.
For this reason the town was designed as a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE in 2000.
The tour will start on the Old Slave Market site and the anglican church. Throw the narrow streets, the next stop will be at city market (darajani market) where you will see the local fish, fruits and vegetables, meat and spice markets. Then you’re going to see palace museum for sultani from Oman, House of Wonder, which is the tallest and the largest building in Stone Town, the Old fort, Tiptip house, the Indu temple and the famous zanzibarian doors made in indian and arabic style.
The tour will end in front of the house where Freddy Mercury was born.
