Overview

This small group overland tour with a mix of camping and budged lodge accomodation shows you the highlights of Botswana and Victoria Falls on a budget. You visit the Victoria Falls, Chobe NP, Elephant Sands, the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans and the highlight is the authentic camping safari deep in the the Okavango Delta.

All activities and most meals are included during this tour: guided walks, game drives, boating safaris and excursions in traditional dugout canoes.

What you will do

Day 1

ARRIVAL IN VICTORIA FALLS (-/-/-)
We welcome you at the airport and take you to your accomodation in Victoria Falls where you can relax and unwind from the journey and prepare for the adventure of the next days.

In the evening you enjoy a SunSet Cruise in Zambezi River on top of the Victoria Falls.

Day 2

GUIDED TOUR OF THE FALLS & BOATING IN CHOBE RIVER (B/L/-)
A local guide takes you on a guided walking tour through the Victoria Falls Rainforest. You see the Victoria Falls from different angles. You can book additional activities in advance on surcharge.

We then continue to Chobe for lunch and an afternoon/evening boating safari.

Day 3

GAMEVIEWING IN CHOBE AND ELEPHANT SANDS … AN EXPERIENCE NOT TO BE MISSED (B/-/D)
The Riverfront in Chobe National Park is famous for its large numbers of elephants Chobe which attract animal lovers from all over the world.

You start the day with a morning game drive in Chobe in an open 4×4 safari vehicle.

We then continue our journey to Elephant Sands.

Enjoy the scenery of this unique place. Elephant Sands gives you the opportunity to observe herds of elephants and other animals from an upclose distance. Sit by the waterhole and view how the animals interact.

Day 4

SLEEPING IN THE SALTPANS OF MAKGADKGADI (B/-/D)

In the very early morning you have a cup of coffee and/or tea. Then you go on a guided walking excursion through the bush of the Elephant Sands Game Reserve or on a game drive.

On return you have a full breakfast and time for a last view on the happenings at the waterhole before continuing the journey to Makgadikgadi.

You overnight in a mobile camp on the Ntwetwe Salt pan where you can settle down around a roaring camp fire in time to watch the most spectacular African sunset!

You are then served a 3-course meal around a candle lit dining table while enjoying the solitude of the salt pan.

You can then head off for bed to snuggle down into the warm and cosy bedrolls whilst watching the night sky pass right above your head (our overnights are a favourite with astronomers and anyone keen to see the Milky Way in all its glory)!

Day 5

MEERKAT VIST (B/-/D)
In the morning after breakfast we visit a colony of Meerkats, who live on the edge of the Ntwetwe salt pan. With a little luck we have the once in a life time opportunity to observe their natural behaviours and charming personalities from almost touching distance as they emerge from their burrow to enjoy the warm morning sun.

We can also include a ride on the saltpans with quad bikes (surcharge) for those who enjoy an adrenaline rush!

We then continue to the Okavango Delta for an authentic camping safari deep inside the watersystem.

The tour starts with a 1h speedboat cruise to the Buffalo Fence. Because of dryseason or other circumstances we might drive you in a 4×4 vehicle.

At the buffalo fence you meet your poler, who will take you on an unforgettable journey through the channels of the Okavango. Born and raised in the Okavango Delta, our polers and guides show you their home which they are very pationate and knowledgable about. Our experienced polers take you on a journey deep in the watersystem.

Enjoy the peace of the delta in a Mokoro, the traditional onetree-canoe.

At camp on an island our team awaits you with dinner and a fresh bush shower. In the evening you sit around the campfire sharing the stories of the day.

Day 6

ON THE ISLANDS OF THE OKAVANGO DELTA (B/L/D)
You are woken up with a warm “Dumela“ (setswana = Hello) and a light breakfast waiting for you. After coffee, tea and breakfast you go on your first gameviewing activity (either a nature walk or a canoe excursion). When returning to camp you have the opportunity to shower. Afterwards you will be served brunch. In the afternoon you enjoy a second gameviewing activity. After dinner you once again sit around the fire before falling asleep with the sounds of the bush around you.

Day 7

IN THE CHANNELS OF THE OKAVANGO DELTA (B/L/-)
Spend the whole day deep inside the Okavango. Explore the channels by Mokoro (traditional DugOut Canoe) and go on guided bushwalks and gamewalks with an experienced guide on the islands of the Okavango Delta. Enjoy the scenery of this unique place , which is a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Day 8

DEPARTURE FROM MAUN (B/-/-)
We transfer you to the airport where you connect to your departure flight with your baggae full of unforgettable experiences.
