Kampur Travel Diaries is a family-based eco-friendly tour operator in Kenya specializing in sustainable off-the-beaten track adventure experiences in East Africa.
Our passion is to give our guests an amazing safari/holiday experience which not only combines striking landscapes and wildlife, but also encompasses the superb hospitality and beautiful cultures that this region has to offer.
During your travels with us, we have taken steps to reduce our plastic usage as much as possible. We provide refillable water bottles to all our guests on their safaris. Where we are unable to get away from use of plastic bottles, our guides will carry this back to Nairobi, where we are working with recycling companies to ensure that the plastic is made into something useful.
We also try and ensure (where possible) that we work with hotels and lodges which have a similar ethos to us.
We have programs in place to support education as well as conservation, from recycling of plastic bottles to planting of trees using seedballs.
We believe in sustainable tourism by working closely with local communities. Our aim is that during your travels, you get a chance to witness our ethos of working closely with the communities that we visit, through the lodges and conservancies that we work with.
Over the past few years, we (Kamal and Purvi AKA Kampur) have been exploring new places every couple of weekends in Kenya. This has led to us travelling to many ‘off the beaten track’ places.
We wanted to share our love for the outdoors, wildlife and nature with others and therefore started a blog “Kampur Travel Diaries” (KTD) documenting our adventures in Kenya. Kampur is a combination of a first 3 letters of Kamal and Purvi and also a play on the word “Camper” which was what we are and where we feel most at home.
We found that our travel diaries showed people Kenya through our eyes and inspired them to explore the ‘off the beaten track’ places. It was not long before we started getting requests from our family and friends (including those on social media) to take them to some of these places.
Finding that the first few trips were successful with great feedback, especially of the personalized experience, we decided to venture into offering adventure safaris to a wider audience. This step would also provide a way of sustaining our schools/community projects in Northern Kenya (which we started in July 2018). Part of the proceeds from every safari goes towards paying for the logistics of our program and to purchase of some of the items that are donated.
This is why our motto is “Adventure with a Cause”.
In 2019, we had a privilege of assisting 1551 children in Northern Kenya by providing the students with school items to assist in their education. We are also enabling a child who is hard of hearing to attend a special school that will cater to his needs better by paying his school fees. We will be doing more of this in the coming years.
