This city is also one of the most touristic places of the nation, not only for the beauty of its landscapes but also because many tribes live there in full harmony. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mwanza_Region\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mwanza<\/a> is a large, welcoming &#8220;melting pot&#8221;.<\/strong> You will never feel a foreigner, over there.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Set on the southern shore of <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hoaexp.com\/2020\/06\/25\/lake-victoria-discover-another-africa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lake Victoria<\/a>,<\/strong> Mwanza depends on this lake for most of its economy. Fishing is the first profitable activity of its inhabitants, <strong>tourism &#8211; and safari &#8211;<\/strong> is the second. It is also a commercial city, living on trades with other towns of the lake region. Tourists will enjoy a modern, comfortable, happy stay, there. And many things to see.<\/p>\n<h2>What to see in Mwanza<\/h2>\n<p>Mwanza is the <strong>meeting point for some of the most beautiful safaris of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tanzania\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tanzania<\/a>.<\/strong> Its territory borders three national parks &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hoaexp.com\/2020\/06\/24\/serengeti-park-of-wonders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Serengeti<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hoaexp.com\/2020\/07\/15\/saanane-island-and-national-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saanane<\/a>, Rubondo &#8211; which can be explored thanks to the local expert guides. In this city they also invented <strong>the &#8220;safari on the lake&#8221;.<\/strong> On the ferries leaving from its port you will enjoy a different trip and admire a particular view of Africa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The ferries from Mwanza will also take you to <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hoaexp.com\/2020\/07\/06\/visit-ukerewe-the-museum-island-of-tanzania\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ukerewe Island<\/a><\/strong>. If you have the chance go visit this island, which is also a protected area. It will take 4 hours sailing to get there from the city. You will admire <strong>incredible natural sites,<\/strong> the lovely fishermen town of Nansio, the colonial architecture. Ukerewe is also called the &#8220;<strong>albino island<\/strong>&#8221; because it welcomed <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Persecution_of_people_with_albinism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">albinos<\/a>, saving them from killing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In Mwanza you can also admire: the Rock City<\/strong>, that is the urban area literally built among rocky hills; the many <strong>colonial churches<\/strong>, even catholic ones; the great <strong>Jamatkhana Mosque<\/strong>; the modern skyline of the city centre. <strong>Do not miss <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lonelyplanet.com\/tanzania\/northern-tanzania\/mwanza\/attractions\/bismarck-rock\/a\/poi-sig\/1501980\/355657\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bismark Rock<\/a>,<\/strong> a giant stone forming a particular islet off the city shore. But they are also the ones with less rain. Other seasons may be ruined by heavy storms and floods. <strong>Maybe late January and February are a good compromise:<\/strong> not much rain anyway, and &#8220;low&#8221; temperatures (32\u00b0C) too.<\/p>\n<h2>How to get there, how to move<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Mwanza has a small airport.<\/strong> Many flights from <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hoaexp.com\/2020\/07\/04\/welcome-to-dar-es-salaam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dar Es Salaam<\/a> land there every day. But you can easily get there also by bus. There is a main national bus service connecting Dar Es Salaam, the capital <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dodoma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dodoma <\/a>and Mwanza. Thanks to the ferry service, you can get to Mwanza <strong>sailing on the lake. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will arrive from any local lake port and from Ugandese lake towns too. Mwanza is well organized to welcome tourists.
