CORONAVIRUS COVID-19 AFRICA UPDATES: 28\/04\/2020<\/h2>\n

Of Africa<\/strong>‘s 54 countries, only two have yet to report a case of the virus: Comoros<\/strong> <\/a>and Lesotho<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

As of April 28, the confirmed coronavirus death toll on the continent stood at 1,467, with fatalities including the former President of the Republic of the Congo\u00a0<\/strong>Jacques Joachim Yhombi-Opango and Somalia<\/strong>‘s former Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein. Today the data report 33,273 confirmed infections and 10,091 recoveries, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Experts warn fragile healthcare systems in many African countries could be overwhelmed in the face of a severe outbreak of COVID-19<\/strong>, the highly infectious respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
